Sunshine Association received an award as Second Runner-up for the 2010 Casual Day Campaign. We sold more than a whopping 22 000 stickers - the highest number of stickers sold by an independent NGO participant.
Casual Day is South Africa's foremost fundraising event of this nature and raises more than just money, it raises awareness about persons with disabilities...

Keegan Mogano (3 years old) and Rose Mmutle (5 years old) are two cerebral palsied children attending the Craighall Early Intervention Centre.
Last year part of their functional goals included using a walker to increase mobility. The two of them caught on quickly and used their walkers every day during outdoor activities.

The use of visual aids in the teaching process assists learning as it:

  • Slows down the input
  • Is permanent (unlike spoken language)
  • Can be tangible (tactile) for the learner

Their parents were very excited and supportive of this progress that they requested to borrow the walkers during school holidays to encourage the children to use the assistive device at home.
